NANCY OLIVER-MacKENZIE - Granddaughter, William A. White

Nancy studied at Acadia, University of Toronto, McGill and Concordia universities.  She was a founding parent of the Montreal Free School & F.A.C.E. alternative arts school and taught in Montreal, Inukjuak, Botswana, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, and Algonquin First Nations School. She developed and piloted a media education curriculum for early childhood educators for the University of Zimbabwe.  In retirement she was interim Coordinator of Programs and Services at the NDG Black Community Centre, developed and taught a seniors’ Introduction to Computers course, prepared a database of archival materials for the Black Studies Centre and was interim Outreach Director for the Union United Church, where she also was curator of a 90 piece 100th anniversary photo exhibition. Nancy headed a team presenting racial justice workshops throughout eastern Quebec for United Church of Canada clergy.
